Part Time Faculty member, Paul Kimmel, visited both Occupy Washington, DC sites (McPherson Square and Freedom Plaza). The differences in the organization and activities of the two were dramatic. The former is on a dirt base and has suffered from outside invasions by authorities and vandals. The latter is on a marble slab and has more established procedures and activities that provide information and accountability to its members and the public.

A colleague is working one day a week with the McPherson Square group to help with community organization. They are facing eviction by the DC police who want to clean up the grounds. The Freedom Plaza group supported the Amnesty International protest of Guantanamo that Dr. Kimmel participated in yesterday.
